Anthropic launches the Claude for Nonprofits plugin with fundraising, grant and board skills for Team and Enterprise plans - Data Studios original cover

Anthropic has released the Claude for Nonprofits plugin, a bundle of skills and connectors designed for the recurring operational work of charities, foundations and other mission-driven organizations. The company announced the plugin on October 26, 2026, and said it is installed automatically, at no additional cost, for nonprofits that use Claude on the Team and Enterprise plans. Anthropic describes it as the first of several releases it intends to build together with the sector, and says it developed this one with a design partner group of about 30 nonprofits ranging from small regional teams to international organizations.

The plugin groups its skills into three areas: extending a small team's capacity in marketing, hiring and board work; setting Claude up responsibly inside the organization; and fundraising, from identifying funders to writing grant reports. The release arrives roughly eleven months after Anthropic first launched Claude for Nonprofits in December 2025, and the company used the same announcement to summarize how the program has changed since then, including discounted seat prices, a lower minimum team size and a separate price tier for organizations in low- and middle-income countries.

According to Anthropic, more than 25,000 nonprofits now use Claude, and more than 75% of them have fewer than 10 Claude seats. That distribution explains much of the plugin's design: most of the workflows it packages are tasks that a large organization would hand to a dedicated department, but that a small nonprofit usually spreads across a handful of staff members.

WHAT THE PLUGIN ADDS TO CLAUDE.

The first group of skills, which Anthropic presents as a way to extend a nonprofit's team, covers three functions. For marketing, Claude plans campaigns sized to the bandwidth the team actually has, drafts material in the organization's own voice and performs a second review of content before it is published. For hiring and people operations, it produces job postings together with interview guides and scoring rubrics, drafts 90-day plans for new hires and answers staff questions using the organization's handbook. For board and leadership work, it runs a skills gap analysis of the board, drafts outreach to prospective board candidates, assembles orientation packets and helps plan board meeting decks.

The second group addresses how Claude is configured inside the organization. A skill called "map your organization" has Claude ask where each type of record lives, such as donor data, grant files, finances and policies. When memory is turned on, Claude saves that map for each person, and the other skills in the plugin read it first, so later requests start from an understanding of where the relevant material is kept. A second skill lets staff ask whether a given use of AI is permitted, with Claude answering on the basis of the organization's own AI policy.

The third and largest group concerns fundraising. Claude can research donors, foundations and companies and surface open grant opportunities with cited sources; break down a request for proposals into its eligibility rules, requirements and an assessment of how competitive an application would be; draft requirement lists and first drafts of proposals and reports from the organization's own material, with grant reports citing the sources of their figures; and support donor relationships through pre-call briefs, post-call write-ups, thank-you notes, donor updates and re-engagement plans for lapsed donors.

Anthropic has not published a separate list of the connectors bundled inside the plugin. The nonprofit-specific connectors it has documented since the original launch are Blackbaud, for donor management and campaign tracking, Candid, for data on nonprofits, funders and grants, and Benevity, which gives access to a database of more than 2.4 million validated nonprofits for volunteering and donation searches. The announcement also does not explain how an administrator can disable the automatically installed plugin; it says only that administrators control which users have access and which connectors the organization may use.

WHAT CHANGES FOR NONPROFITS ON TEAM AND ENTERPRISE PLANS.

The practical change for existing nonprofit customers is that the new skills appear without a purchase or installation step, because Anthropic installs the plugin automatically on nonprofit Team and Enterprise plans. Organizations that are not yet customers have to qualify for the nonprofit program first. Anthropic's nonprofit page lists registered 501(c)(3) organizations and their international equivalents, K-12 public and private schools, and certain mission-based healthcare providers, namely independent Critical Access Hospitals, Rural Emergency Hospitals, Federally Qualified Health Centers and Rural Health Clinics.

Verification depends on the plan. Organizations with fewer than 20 people that choose the Team plan verify their status through Anthropic's partner Goodstack, a process the company says takes about two to three minutes, with the discount applied once approval comes through. Enterprise customers are verified directly by Anthropic's nonprofit sales team during the sales process.

Anthropic also summarized the changes it has made to the program over the past year. Nonprofit plans now include the same models as the standard Team and Enterprise plans, whereas the December 2025 launch listed Claude Opus 4.6, Sonnet 4.5 and Haiku 4.5 as the models included in the discounted tiers. The minimum size for the Team plan was lowered to organizations with as few as two people, and Claude Code is included in nonprofit plans at no additional cost. These are presented as changes already made over the past year rather than as new announcements, so the plugin itself is the new element of the October 26 release.

NONPROFIT PRICING COMPARED WITH STANDARD CLAUDE PLANS.

Anthropic's nonprofit page lists the Team plan, for 2 to 150 seats, at $8 per user per month for verified nonprofits, and at $3 per user per month for nonprofits based in low- and middle-income countries as classified by the World Bank. The page notes that prices exclude applicable tax and are subject to change. The general Claude pricing page lists a standard Team seat at $20 per month billed annually or $25 per month billed monthly, a premium Team seat at $100 billed annually or $125 billed monthly, and Enterprise seats at $20 per month billed annually with a 20-seat minimum and usage billed on top at API rates. Enterprise pricing for nonprofits is arranged through a buying specialist and is not published.

Set against the standard seat, the $8 nonprofit price is 60% lower than the annual-billing rate and 68% lower than the monthly rate. The $3 tier introduced in September 2026, which Anthropic describes as a discount of about 90%, works out to 85% below the annual standard seat and 88% below the monthly one. The company's original December 2025 announcement described discounts of up to 75% on Team and Enterprise plans; the published figures do not say which discount level applies to Enterprise contracts. The nonprofit page also does not state whether the $8 and $3 prices correspond to the standard seat or depend on the billing period, so the comparison below uses the standard seat as the reference.

For the typical nonprofit customer Anthropic describes, one with fewer than 10 seats, the annual cost difference between the nonprofit price and the standard annual seat is therefore in the range of a few hundred to around $1,400. For organizations in eligible countries the yearly bill for a ten-person team falls to $360 before tax.

HOW DESIGN PARTNERS SAY THEY USED CLAUDE.

Anthropic's announcement includes accounts from organizations in its design partner group and other nonprofit customers, among them Start Early, StriveTogether, Taleemabad, Allies Against Slavery, Best Friends Animal Society, Braven, Code the Dream, Colnodo, Direct Relief, Forte, the Gates Foundation, International Justice Mission, Montgomery County Food Bank, Operation Fistula and Prosper Global. These are customer statements published by the vendor, not independent evaluations, and they describe individual workflows rather than measured outcomes across the program.

Montgomery County Food Bank said it used Claude to compare retail and bulk prices, and that a partner agency now spends 40% less as a result. Code the Dream said it turned a retention report into a board deck and answered follow-up questions in about 15 minutes. Operation Fistula said Claude produces in half an hour an analysis that once took an analyst ten days. Prosper Global offered a more qualified example: it reported that a first version of the tooling assumed a small charity in the United States, while the next version handled a job posting in Bogotá with Colombian context, a reminder that defaults built around US nonprofits do not automatically carry over to organizations elsewhere.

Anthropic is pairing the software release with services. It lists adoption partners including Accenture, Boston Consulting Group, The Bridgespan Group, Civis Analytics, Deloitte, fusionSpan, Idealist Consulting, Myridius, SapienAI, Slalom, v4c.ai and Vera Solutions. Its Claude Corps program plans to place 1,000 early-career fellows in at least 400 US nonprofits, and the company says it plans to extend that effort through a partnership with Taproot that would match nonprofits with pro bono consultants for short, project-based work. Two webinars are scheduled: a session for administrators on data handling and AI use policies on November 10, and a session for staff on November 12.

DATA HANDLING AND ADMINISTRATION.

Because several of the plugin's skills work with donor records, grant files and personnel material, data handling is the first question many nonprofit administrators are likely to raise. Anthropic states that it does not train its models on customer data by default, that administrators control user access and the connectors available to the organization, and that its security and compliance documentation is published in the Anthropic Trust Center. The nonprofit page lists security configurations intended to meet SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, ISO 42001 and CSA STAR requirements. Enterprise plans add a Compliance API, SCIM provisioning and custom data retention controls, which Team plans do not include.

The "map your organization" skill deserves attention from administrators in particular, since it relies on Claude's memory to store, for each person, a description of where sensitive record types are kept. Organizations with strict internal policies on where such information may be recorded will want to review how memory is configured before staff start using the skill. Anthropic points to a Claude Academy tutorial on data handling and drafting an AI use policy, and the plugin's own policy-check skill is only as reliable as the written policy it is given.

Readers following Anthropic's broader business can find the financial context in our coverage of the company's S-1 filing for a Nasdaq listing, and the model side of the Team plan in our article on Claude Haiku 5.5.

WHAT IS ESTABLISHED AND WHAT REMAINS OPEN.

What is established from Anthropic's own pages is that the Claude for Nonprofits plugin is available now, is installed automatically for nonprofits on Team and Enterprise plans at no extra charge, and packages skills for marketing, hiring, board work, internal setup and the full fundraising cycle. The published nonprofit prices are $8 per user per month on the Team plan and $3 per user per month for organizations in low- and middle-income countries, with a two-seat minimum and status verification through Goodstack for smaller organizations.

Several points remain undocumented. Anthropic has not listed which connectors are bundled inside the plugin, has not explained how an administrator can switch it off, and has not published nonprofit Enterprise prices. The customer results quoted in the announcement come from the organizations themselves and have not been independently measured. The company has also not said what the next releases in the series will contain, only that they will be developed with nonprofits, so the scope of the program beyond this first plugin is still to be defined.
