Apple opens its redesigned Health app to nine more languages in the iOS 27.3 beta

Apple said on November 3, 2026 that its redesigned Health app, the version rebuilt around Apple Intelligence that it first showed in September, will no longer launch in U.S. English alone. The app now supports global English plus Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), French, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish and Vietnamese, and the expanded version is available from that day in the iOS 27.3 developer beta. Apple says the public release will arrive as a free software update later in 2026.
The change widens the potential audience of the new Health experience from American English speakers to users across Europe, Latin America and Asia. When Apple announced the redesign on September 9, alongside Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4, its press release said the app would launch in U.S. English only, with more languages to follow at an unspecified date. The November announcement names those languages and adds that Apple will keep adding more, without giving dates for the next ones.
The feature set itself is unchanged by the update. The redesigned app includes an Insights tab with running summaries of heart, sleep, readiness, fitness, vitals and cycle tracking data, a For You section with recommendations based on daily habits, a Longevity tab that tracks long-term trends, a Health Age estimate built on Apple Watch data, and at-home movement evaluations that use the iPhone camera. It requires an iPhone or iPad that supports Apple Intelligence, and several features also need an Apple Watch.

HEALTH APP LANGUAGE SUPPORT BEFORE AND AFTER THE IOS 27.3 BETA.
The practical difference between the two announcements is easiest to read side by side. In September the redesigned app had a single launch language; the November update turns that into eleven language entries, counting the two Chinese scripts separately and replacing U.S. English with global English.
........
Item | September 9, 2026 announcement | November 3, 2026 update |
English | U.S. English only | Global English |
Other languages | None at launch | Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), French, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish, Vietnamese |
Where to try it | Not yet available | iOS 27.3 developer beta |
Public release | "Later this year" | Free software update later in 2026 |
Further languages | "More languages to follow" | Apple "will continue adding" languages |
........
The switch to global English is significant for readers in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, Canada, India, Singapore and other English-speaking markets, since a U.S.-only English launch would have left them with the previous Health app design even on supported hardware. Apple's newsroom posted the announcement on several regional sites, including the Ireland, Australia, India, Singapore, Hong Kong and South Africa editions, which is consistent with a launch aimed well beyond the United States.
The announcement covers languages, not countries. Apple repeats in its footnotes that some features may not be available in all regions or languages and that availability can vary with local law, so a supported language does not guarantee that every part of the app works in every market.

WHAT THE REDESIGNED HEALTH APP DOES WITH APPLE INTELLIGENCE.
Apple describes the new Health app as built around Apple Intelligence. The app reads the data people already store in Health and turns it into summaries and suggestions, rather than leaving them to browse individual charts. Apple's September release said the Longevity analysis draws on iPhone, Apple Watch, AirPods, clinical records and third-party apps.
........
Feature | What it does | Extra requirement |
Insights tab | Daily summaries of heart, sleep, readiness, fitness, vitals and cycle data | None beyond a supported iPhone or iPad |
For You | Recommendations based on habits, such as changing a wind-down routine after poor sleep | None stated |
Longevity tab | Long-term trends in heart health, sleep, mental wellbeing, movement, metabolic health, hearing and nutrition | None stated |
Health Age | Compares the body's metrics with chronological age using VO2 max, resting heart rate, sleep and heart rate variability | Apple Watch |
Lab results | Users can add results such as A1c and LDL cholesterol | None stated |
Movement evaluations | At-home tests of flexibility, strength, balance, movement mechanics and VO2 max | iPhone camera and Apple Watch |
VO2 max test | Estimates cardiorespiratory fitness | Apple Watch, AirPods Pro 3 or a third-party heart rate sensor |
........
The movement evaluations are the most technically specific part of the announcement. Apple says they rely on vision-based AI models developed with clinical experts, that they run entirely on the device, and that no video is recorded, stored or shared. The tests give real-time audio and visual feedback and need no specialized equipment. Apple also includes educational videos and articles from the Health app's clinical experts, matched to the user's data.
The September announcement also described in-app lab ordering, with tests covering more than 50 biomarkers for $119 and appointments through Quest at about 2,000 U.S. locations. The November language update does not mention lab ordering at all, and the Quest network is a U.S. service, so users outside the United States should expect to add existing lab results by hand rather than book tests from the app.

HEALTH APP REQUIREMENTS: IPHONE, IPAD, APPLE WATCH AND AGE LIMITS.
Language support is only the first condition. The redesigned app runs only on hardware that supports Apple Intelligence, and Apple's support documentation lists those models as iPhone Duo, iPhone 16 models or later, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone Air, plus iPad mini (A17 Pro) and iPad models with M1 or later. Apple Intelligence also needs free storage, up to 14 GB or up to 8 GB depending on the model, according to the same page.
........
Requirement | Detail from Apple |
iPhone | iPhone Duo, iPhone 16 models or later, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone Air |
iPad | iPad mini (A17 Pro), iPad models with M1 or later |
Software | iOS 27.3 developer beta now; public release later in 2026 |
Apple Watch | Needed for Health Age and movement evaluations |
VO2 max test | Apple Watch, AirPods Pro 3 or a third-party heart rate sensor |
Age | Some features require users to be 18 or older |
Device scope | Some features work only on iPhone |
........
iPhones that run iOS 27 but are not on the Apple Intelligence list, such as the standard iPhone 15, are not covered by the redesign. On the watch side, Apple's September material says watchOS 27 supports Apple Watch Series 9 or later, Apple Watch SE 3 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, which sets the floor for Health Age and the movement tests.
Apple's footnotes also repeat a cost caveat that applies to Apple Intelligence in general: certain server-side features have daily usage limits, and expanded access to those features "will be available for a fee in the future." Apple does not tie that fee to the Health app and has not named a price, so there is no announced charge for the Health redesign itself.

WHICH APPLE INTELLIGENCE LANGUAGES THE HEALTH APP STILL LEAVES OUT.
Comparing the Health app list with the languages Apple Intelligence supports shows where the gap remains. Apple's support page lists sixteen Apple Intelligence languages, and five of them are missing from the Health app announcement.
........
Language | Apple Intelligence | Redesigned Health app (November 3) |
English | Yes | Yes (global English) |
Chinese (Simplified and Traditional) | Yes | Yes |
French, Japanese, Korean | Yes | Yes |
Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish | Yes | Yes |
Turkish, Vietnamese | Yes | Yes |
German | Yes | Not announced |
Italian | Yes | Not announced |
Dutch | Yes | Not announced |
Danish | Yes | Not announced |
Swedish | Yes | Not announced |
........
The missing languages are concentrated in Europe. An iPhone set to German, Italian, Dutch, Danish or Swedish has Apple Intelligence available but, based on the November list, will not get the redesigned Health app in that language yet. Apple has not said whether those users will see the new design in English or keep the previous app, and it has not given a timeline for the five languages.
European availability carries a second question. Apple's support page lists specific Apple Intelligence features that are available to users in the European Union, namely advanced photo editing, the reimagined Image Playground and intelligent browsing, and the Health app does not appear in that list. Apple also held back Siri AI from iPhone users in the EU when it added five languages in iOS 27.2, as covered in our report on the Siri AI language expansion. Apple has not stated whether the Health redesign will be offered in EU countries when it ships.
Chinese support has a similar condition attached. Apple's support documentation says Apple Intelligence features do not currently work on devices bought in China mainland, and Apple has said that mainland users will get a core set of features in December, as detailed in our article on Apple Intelligence in China with iOS 27.3. Simplified Chinese in the Health app does not by itself mean the redesign will be offered in China mainland.

WHAT CHANGES FOR IPHONE USERS AND DEVELOPERS TESTING IOS 27.3.
For most iPhone owners nothing changes until the public update arrives. The redesigned Health app is available since November 3 only to people running the iOS 27.3 developer beta, the same build in which Apple opened Siri AI to third-party apps, as described in our report on the Siri AI developer preview. Apple says the release for everyone will come as a free update later in 2026, without a date.
Users who want the new app in their own language when it ships need three things in place: a supported iPhone or iPad, device and Siri language set to one of the listed languages, and Apple Intelligence turned on. Those who want Health Age or the movement evaluations also need an Apple Watch on watchOS 27, and anyone planning to run the VO2 max test needs either the watch, AirPods Pro 3 or a compatible third-party heart rate sensor. Since lab ordering through Quest is described only for the United States, users elsewhere can prepare by importing recent lab reports into Health.
App developers who write health data to HealthKit have a reason to test in the beta now. The new Longevity analysis pulls from third-party apps as well as Apple devices, and the Insights tab summarizes data across categories, so developers of apps that log sleep, workouts, nutrition or cycle data can check in the beta how their entries appear in the new views and in the added languages.

APPLE HEALTH APP REDESIGN: CONFIRMED FACTS AND OPEN QUESTIONS.
Apple has confirmed the language list, the availability of the expanded app in the iOS 27.3 developer beta from November 3, the free public release later in 2026, and the hardware conditions: an Apple Intelligence iPhone or iPad, an Apple Watch for Health Age and the movement tests, and age limits on some features. It has also confirmed that the movement evaluations run on the device without recording video.
Several points remain undisclosed. Apple has given no release date for the public update and no schedule for German, Italian, Dutch, Danish and Swedish, which Apple Intelligence already supports. It has not said whether the Health redesign will be available in the European Union or in China mainland, and the November update says nothing about lab ordering outside the United States. The cost note on server-side Apple Intelligence features is generic and not linked to Health.
On the facts published so far, the November update is a language expansion and not a change to the product. It moves the redesigned Health app from a U.S.-only launch plan to a release that covers most major Apple Intelligence languages, with the remaining European languages and the regional rules for the EU and China still to be settled by Apple.
