To cancel ChatGPT in 2026, use the same platform that bills the subscription. A plan bought on chatgpt.com is canceled inside ChatGPT, an Apple purchase is canceled in Apple Subscriptions, and a Google Play purchase is canceled through Google Play. Uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription, and cancellation does not automatically refund past charges.
For personal plans, OpenAI recommends canceling at least 24 hours before the next billing date. Paid features normally remain available until the end of the current billing period unless a refund is granted and ends access earlier.

HOW TO CANCEL CHATGPT ON THE WEB
If the subscription was purchased directly on chatgpt.com, sign in to the account that owns the paid plan, open Settings, go to Billing, and choose Cancel. Depending on the interface version, the billing panel may expose a Manage control before the final cancellation option.
The cancellation schedules the subscription to stop renewing. It does not normally downgrade the account immediately: Plus or Pro access remains active until the paid billing period expires.
