ChatGPT Introduces Google Drive and Dropbox Integration Alongside Record Mode for Meeting Transcription and Document Analysis

ChatGPT now connects directly to Google Drive and Dropbox.
A new record mode also lets it take notes during meetings.
These features help users find and summarize information faster and are available to paid subscribers.

Cloud Storage Integration (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.)

What It Is

ChatGPT can now directly connect to your cloud storage accounts – including Google Drive and Dropbox (as well as OneDrive, SharePoint, Box, etc.). This means you can give ChatGPT permission to read files from these services.

How It Works

Once connected, you can ask ChatGPT questions about your stored documents and data. For example, a user could ask “What was my company’s revenue in Q1 last year?” and ChatGPT will search the linked spreadsheets to find the answer. You can also request summaries or insights from files – e.g. a financial analyst might have ChatGPT pull figures from a report in Drive to generate investment insights, or a marketer could have it analyze a product presentation from Dropbox without leaving the chat.

Practical Benefits

This integration saves you time by letting the AI search and summarize your files on demand. You don’t have to manually open documents or dig through folders – you can simply ask questions in natural language. ChatGPT will structure and clearly present the data with citations, so you see which document the information came from. It also respects your existing file permissions and access controls (it can only read files you have access to). OpenAI has noted that for business accounts, any data pulled from your cloud storage is not used to train ChatGPT’s models, addressing privacy concerns.

“Record Mode” for Meeting Notes

What It Is

A new “record mode” allows ChatGPT to act as a smart notetaker during meetings, brainstorming sessions, or even when you’re just thinking out loud. When activated, ChatGPT uses your device’s microphone to listen to the conversation and transcribe it in real time.

How It Works

During a meeting, a user on an eligible plan can turn on record mode (currently via the ChatGPT app on macOS for Team subscribers). ChatGPT will capture the audio through the microphone – no special Zoom or Teams bot required, it simply listens in like a recorder. After the meeting, it automatically generates structured notes from the discussion. These notes include a summary of key points, a list of important highlights or decisions, and even action items (tasks or follow-ups that were mentioned). The notes are time-stamped and come with citations referencing when in the conversation each point was made.

Practical Benefits

This feature means you no longer need to take manual meeting minutes. You get an organized recap of the meeting without effort, which is especially useful for people who want to stay engaged in the discussion instead of writing notes. You can also search the transcribed meeting afterward by asking ChatGPT questions to find out, for example, “What decision was made about the project timeline?” Additionally, ChatGPT can turn the identified action items into a to-do list or a Canvas document for easy follow-up on tasks. Overall, “record mode” helps ensure everyone leaves the meeting with the same understanding and nothing important is forgotten.

Availability, Pricing, and Limitations

Paid Subscribers Only

These new features are not available on the free ChatGPT tier. They are part of OpenAI’s push for business and advanced users, so you’ll need a paid plan to access them.

ChatGPT Plus (Pro)

The $20/month individual subscription supports the cloud storage connectors in most regions. For instance, a Plus user can link their Google Drive or other services and query their files. However, Plus users do not have access to the meeting recording feature. Also note, OpenAI has indicated there are regional restrictions for individual users: cloud connectors for Plus/Pro accounts are initially unavailable in parts of Europe (e.g. EU/EEA countries, UK, Switzerland) due to regulatory considerations.

ChatGPT Team

A business plan (about $25 per user/month, with a minimum seat requirement) includes both the cloud integrations and the “record” meeting notes feature. Team users can connect to Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Box, just like Plus users, and additionally have connectors suited for organizations. The record mode is currently offered to Team subscribers and initially launched on macOS only.

ChatGPT Enterprise and Education

Enterprise customers (with custom pricing contracts) and ChatGPT Edu users (a student-focused offering) also have access to the cloud storage connectors. In fact, Team, Enterprise, and Edu accounts get the full range of integrations – including additional connectors like SharePoint, Dropbox, and Box that are geared toward organizational use. While not explicitly stated, Enterprise users will likely have access to the meeting recording feature as well, or soon, given these features are part of OpenAI’s enterprise-focused rollout.

Rollout Timeline

These features were announced in early June 2025 and are rolling out to eligible users now. The meeting “Record” feature is in its early phase (Team plan on Mac initially), so it may expand to other platforms and plans over time. The cloud connectors are live for paid users; Plus users can start linking certain services now (with the regional caveats mentioned), and Team/Enterprise users have the full set of connectors available immediately.

Summary of Who Can Use What

To put it simply:

  • Free users → cannot use these new integrations;

  • ChatGPT Plus → file-reading powers (in supported regions), no meeting recorder;

  • ChatGPT Team and Enterprise → both file integration and meeting recorder;

  • Edu plans → cloud integrations.
