Google AI Plus vs Google AI Pro: Complete Comparison and Report on Price, Usage Limits, Models, and Storage

Google AI Plus and Google AI Pro are the two lower paid tiers of Google's consumer AI subscription, sold through Google One and used inside the Gemini app, Gmail, Gemini Notebook, Google Flow and the rest of Google's apps. Google AI Plus arrived in the United States on January 27, 2026, when Google's announcement listed it at $7.99 a month with 200 GB of storage. Google's own subscription page now lists it at $4.99 a month with 400 GB, while Google AI Pro sits at $19.99 a month with 5 TB of storage and is the cheapest plan that includes Gemini 4 Argon, the frontier model Google rolled out to Pro and Ultra subscribers in the Gemini app on October 13, 2026.
The verdict follows directly from the official tables. Google AI Pro costs $15 more per month ($180 more per year on monthly billing) and buys four things that Plus does not have at any usage level: Gemini 4 Argon, a 1 million token context window in the Gemini app instead of 128,000 tokens, twice the Gemini usage allowance (4x the free tier against 2x), and bundled extras such as 5 TB of storage, YouTube Premium Lite, Google Home Premium Standard and $10 a month in Google Cloud credits. Google AI Plus is the better buy for people who mainly chat, write, summarize and generate occasional images or videos with Flash-class models and want cheap shared storage for a family. Google AI Pro is the better buy for anyone who uploads long documents, codes in Google Antigravity or AI Studio, needs Tasks in Gemini or Chrome auto browse, or would otherwise pay separately for storage beyond 400 GB.
Prices, limits and features in this comparison are as listed on Google's official plan pages, help center and announcements on November 6, 2026, for the United States unless another country is named.

GOOGLE AI PLUS AND GOOGLE AI PRO: RELEASE TIMELINE AND PLAN IDENTITY.
Google AI Pro is the older plan and has been the standard paid Gemini subscription in the US throughout 2026. Google AI Plus started as a lower-priced tier in selected markets and was extended "everywhere our AI plans are available, including the U.S." in the January 27, 2026 announcement by Vikas Kansal, Product Lead for AI Subscriptions. That announcement described Plus as including access to Gemini 3 Pro, Nano Banana Pro, Flow and NotebookLM, with 200 GB of storage and family sharing for up to five other people. It also said Google One Premium 2 TB subscribers in the launch countries would receive the Plus benefits automatically.
The plan has changed since then. The current Google One and Gemini subscription pages list 400 GB of storage for Plus (with a 2 TB variant on the Google One help page), $4.99 a month in the US, Gemini 3.6 Flash as the headline model, and a 2x usage multiplier over users with no plan. The Google I/O 2026 subscriptions post of May 19, 2026 moved all Gemini app limits from daily prompt counts to a compute-based model that refreshes every five hours until a weekly cap is reached, and added Gemini Omni video tools and Daily Brief to Plus, Pro and Ultra. Google's fetched pages do not give the date on which the Plus price moved from $7.99 to $4.99.

GOOGLE AI PLUS VS GOOGLE AI PRO PRICING AND BILLING OPTIONS.
The Gemini subscriptions page states the US prices plainly as "$4.99/ month" for Google AI Plus and "$19.99/ month" for Google AI Pro, with no promotional qualifier or strike-through price next to either. The Google One plan calculator lists Google AI Pro at $199.99 for annual billing. The Google One help page for Plus says subscribers "can choose between a monthly or annual membership plan for Google AI Plus," but none of the pages fetched for this comparison shows the annual Plus amount, so that figure is left blank below.
Both plans are sold through Google One and are available, according to Google's footnotes, in "more than 140 countries and territories," although the plan-specific sections of the same pages claim 160+ countries for Plus and 150+ for Pro. Local prices vary by country. Members who subscribed to Google One through a third-party partner or Pixel Pass cannot upgrade to Plus, according to the Google One help center. Plan changes are made in Google One under Manage membership, then Change membership plan, where upgrades and downgrades are listed separately. Google's help pages do not describe proration or the exact date on which a downgrade takes effect.
Student offers exist for both tiers. The US Google AI plans page advertises Google AI Pro free for one year for eligible students, and Google's Canadian plans page describes a one-year student offer for Plus; both renew at the standard monthly price once student status ends.

GEMINI APP MODELS IN GOOGLE AI PLUS AND GOOGLE AI PRO.
The model line-up is the sharpest difference between the two plans. Google's "About Gemini models" help page lists the models in the Gemini app picker by plan. Users without a plan get Auto or Flash-Lite. Google AI Plus adds Flash and Pro to Flash-Lite. Google AI Pro adds Argon on top of those three, and it is the cheapest plan with task mode, where the available models are Flash and Argon. Thinking levels (Low, Medium and High) are available on every plan, and the help page warns that "more advanced models and higher thinking levels require more of your usage."
The Google One plans page names the models behind those labels. It describes Plus as including "Gemini app with access to Gemini 3.6 Flash" and Pro as including "Gemini 4 Argon for frontier performance in complex workflows" plus "expanded access to Gemini 3.1 Pro." When a subscriber on either plan reaches the usage limit, the help page says "your chat will continue with Flash-Lite," which is the same fallback for both tiers.
Gemini 4 Argon is the most capable model Google offers in the consumer Gemini app. Google DeepMind's October 13, 2026 post describes it as built for "deep work in complex, real-world tasks" in coding, finance, law, cybersecurity and science, with a 1 million token unified input-output limit in the API. Gemini 3.6 Flash, released on July 21, 2026, is the "workhorse model" Google offers to everyone in the Gemini app, with better coding and multimodal scores than Gemini 3.5 Flash in Google's own tables.

USAGE LIMITS AND CONTEXT WINDOW: GOOGLE AI PLUS 2X VS GOOGLE AI PRO 4X.
Google no longer publishes daily prompt counts for the Gemini app. Its "Gemini Apps limits and feature availability" page gives multipliers against a standard baseline and states that the limit "refreshes every 5 hours until you reach your weekly limit." Google AI Plus receives 2x the standard limits and Google AI Pro receives 4x, so Pro carries twice the Plus allowance before the fallback to Flash-Lite. Google AI Ultra sits above both at 5x or 20x the Pro allowance, depending on the $99.99 or $199.99 tier.
The same page sets the context window per plan. Users without a plan get 32,000 tokens, Google AI Plus gets 128,000 tokens, and Google AI Pro and Ultra get 1 million tokens. The context window governs how much text, code or document content Gemini can hold in one conversation, so a 300-page contract, a long codebase or a stack of research papers fits in Pro and may need to be split in Plus. Google's Plus plan table lists file upload size as "More" for Plus and "Expanded" for Pro without giving megabyte values.
Google also rates how much each activity draws from the quota. Video generation has the highest relative cost, Deep Research is rated high, and simple chats are rated very low. Limits can change without notice, including for capacity reasons, and Google says users without a plan may be limited before subscribers when capacity drops.

GEMINI FEATURES INCLUDED IN GOOGLE AI PLUS AND GOOGLE AI PRO.
Most Gemini app features are shared. Canvas, Skills, Storybook, connected apps, quizzes and flashcards, Audio Overviews, screen automation, slide generation, Deep Research, music generation and Nano Banana 2 image generation are listed for every plan, including users with no subscription. Plus adds Daily Brief, scheduled actions, video generation and "Redo images" with Nano Banana Pro, and those also come with Pro. The Gemini app limits page marks Plus with "priority access to some new features," a line it does not show for Pro.
Two features separate the plans. Tasks in Gemini, where Gemini works through multi-step jobs on the user's behalf, is listed for Pro and Ultra only and is limited to the US according to the Google AI Pro help page. Gemini in Chrome auto browse, which lets Gemini operate web pages inside Chrome 144 or later, is also Pro and Ultra only and limited to the US and India. Both require the user to be 18 or older.
Gemini inside Google's own productivity apps also differs. The Gemini subscription page lists Plus with Gemini in Gmail and Vids and Pro with Gemini in Gmail, Docs and Vids, and the Google One page describes the Plus Gmail feature as proofreading. Google's Pro help page says Gemini features in Gmail, Docs and Vids "vary by plan" without listing per-plan quantities.

STORAGE, GEMINI NOTEBOOK AND CREATIVE CREDITS IN EACH PLAN.
Storage is the line where Pro offers the most per dollar. Google AI Plus includes 400 GB shared across Gmail, Drive and Photos, and the Google One help page also mentions a 2 TB Plus variant that adds premium Google Meet and Calendar features and a Google Store discount in five countries. Google AI Pro includes 5 TB on the standard plan and the Pro help page refers to a 10 TB option. Every Google Account starts with 15 GB, which counts toward the plan total.
Gemini Notebook, Google's notebook product for source-grounded research, scales sharply between the two plans. Google's Notebook help page lists 200 notebooks per user and 100 sources per notebook for Plus, against 500 notebooks and 300 sources per notebook for Pro. Pro also removes the visible watermark on generated artifacts, except for users residing in India, South Korea or Vietnam. Notebook usage follows the same 2x and 4x multipliers as the Gemini app.
Google Flow, the AI filmmaking tool, and Flow Music use monthly credit pools. Plus receives 200 Flow credits and 3,000 Flow Music credits a month, which Google estimates at about 600 songs. Pro receives 1,000 Flow credits and 10,000 Flow Music credits, about 2,000 songs, with 12 concurrent music generations against 8 on Plus. Pro and Ultra subscribers can buy pay-as-you-go AI credits for Flow and Antigravity, and the Plus help page states that "AI credits aren't available for purchase to Google AI Plus members."
........
Allowance | Google AI Plus | Google AI Pro |
Cloud storage | 400 GB (2 TB variant listed) | 5 TB (10 TB option listed) |

CODING TOOLS: ANTIGRAVITY, AI STUDIO, COLAB AND CLOUD CREDITS.
Developers see a clear gap. The Google One plan table lists Google Antigravity agent requests as "Limited" for Plus and "Expanded" for Pro, and the Pro description adds "expanded rate limits and access to Gemini 4 Argon in Google Antigravity." The October 13 Argon announcement had listed Antigravity access for Ultra subscribers only at launch, so the Pro entry on the current plan page reflects a later extension. Antigravity's own plans page gives the structure without numbers. Users who are not on Pro or Ultra get "a meaningful quota, refreshed weekly," while Pro gets "a high, generous quota, refreshed every five hours until the weekly limit is reached." Only Pro and Ultra can use AI credit overages when the baseline quota runs out.
Google AI Pro also includes the Google Developer Program premium benefits, which the Pro help page lists as $10 of Google Cloud credits each month, 30 Firebase Studio workspaces and higher Gemini Code Assist quotas. Google Colab compute units are 50 a month on Plus and 200 a month on Pro. AI Studio access to advanced models and vibe coding, plus Android Studio agentic limits, are rated "Limited" on Plus and "Expanded" on Pro.
........
Developer benefit | Google AI Plus | Google AI Pro |
Google Antigravity | Limited agent requests | Expanded rate limits, Gemini 4 Argon |
Antigravity quota refresh | Weekly (non-Pro tier) | Every 5 hours until weekly limit |
Antigravity AI credit overages | No | Yes |

BUNDLED SERVICES ONLY GOOGLE AI PRO INCLUDES.
Google AI Pro carries several non-AI services that Google AI Plus does not include. The Pro help page lists YouTube Premium Lite as an included individual plan in select countries, which will not activate if the user already has an equivalent or full YouTube Premium subscription. Google Home Premium Standard is included at no cost, which Google values at $10 a month, with 30 days of event history. Google Health Premium is included for Pixel Watch and Fitbit owners. In the US, Pro also has higher limits in Google Earth Gemini and Google TV Create Hub, along with AI-powered calling in Search and Playground.
These bundles change the arithmetic for households that already pay for any of them. A family that would otherwise buy Google Home Premium Standard on its own is, by Google's stated value, recovering half the Pro subscription price from that single benefit.

GEMINI 4 ARGON AND GEMINI 3.6 FLASH ON INDEPENDENT AND VENDOR EVALUATIONS.
A plan comparison depends on what the models behind each tier can do, and the only directly comparable figures come from Artificial Analysis. In its September 30, 2026 article on Gemini 4 Argon, Artificial Analysis gave Argon a score of 53 on its Intelligence Index at high reasoning, tied with GPT-6 Astra at max, one point ahead of GPT-6.1 Sol at max and 23 points above Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview at 30. Gemini 3.1 Pro is the "Pro" model that Plus subscribers can pick in the Gemini app. The Argon model page on Artificial Analysis now shows a score of 50 on the current version of the index, along with an output speed of 74 tokens per second and 40.39 seconds to the first answer token through Google's API.
Gemini 3.6 Flash was measured by Artificial Analysis on July 21, 2026, at 50 on the index version in use at the time, the same as Gemini 3.5 Flash, with time per task falling from 2.7 minutes to 1.3 minutes. The current Gemini 3.6 Flash page lists 182 output tokens per second and 12.28 seconds to the first answer token. Because the index was revised between July and September, the July Flash score and the September Argon score are not on the same scale, and no comparison on a single index version was available on the pages fetched for this report.
Google's own figures cover each model against its predecessor only. For Gemini 3.6 Flash, Google reports 49% on DeepSWE, 63.9% on MLE Bench, 83.0% on OSWorld-Verified and 1421 on GDPval-AA v2. For Gemini 4 Argon, Google reports 87% on Embodied Reasoning (ERQA), first place on the Vals Index without a score, 57% on RareBench and 52.2% on LabBench from Gamow Labs private evaluations, and a 0.7% attack success rate on Gray Swan's indirect prompt injection test across 15 adaptive attempts. None of these vendor benchmarks is published for both models.

WHAT GOOGLE AI PLUS AND GOOGLE AI PRO COST PER UNIT OF STORAGE, CREDITS AND USAGE.
Running the official numbers per dollar shows where each plan is efficient. The calculations below use US monthly prices of $4.99 and $19.99, Pro's $199.99 annual price, and the published allowances; usage is expressed in Google's own multipliers because absolute quotas are not published.
Pro costs 4.01 times as much as Plus. It returns twice the Gemini usage, so Plus gives more Gemini allowance per dollar (0.40 multiplier units per dollar against 0.20). Pro wins on storage, at about 250 GB per dollar against about 80 GB per dollar on Plus, which is $0.40 per 100 GB against $1.25 per 100 GB. Flow credits are slightly cheaper on Pro (50 per dollar against 40), Flow Music credits are slightly cheaper on Plus (601 per dollar against 500), and Colab compute units cost the same, about 10 per dollar, on both.
Annual billing reduces Pro to $16.67 a month, a saving of $39.89 a year (16.6%) against twelve monthly payments of $19.99. A developer who uses the full $10 monthly Google Cloud credit brings the effective Pro cost to $9.99 a month. Split across the maximum six people in a family group, Plus costs $0.83 per person per month and Pro costs $3.33, or $2.78 on annual billing, although Google notes that some AI benefits are limited for family members and Colab is only available to the plan manager on Plus.

WHAT GOOGLE DOES NOT PUBLISH ABOUT THE TWO PLANS.
Several figures readers would expect are missing from Google's pages. There are no absolute Gemini app quotas for either plan, only the 2x and 4x multipliers, so the number of Gemini 4 Argon prompts a Pro subscriber gets per five-hour window is unknown. Google gives no daily counts for Deep Research reports, video generations or Audio Overviews on either tier, and its Notebook help page lists notebook and source caps without per-feature quotas.
The annual price of Google AI Plus and the price of the 2 TB Plus variant were not shown on the official pages fetched on November 6, 2026. Google also did not state when Plus moved from the $7.99 and 200 GB terms of its January launch to the current $4.99 and 400 GB, or when Pro storage reached 5 TB. File upload limits are described only as "More" and "Expanded." The country counts disagree within the same pages (140+, 150+ and 160+), and many Pro extras such as Tasks in Gemini and Chrome auto browse are US-only or US-and-India-only, so subscribers outside those markets get a narrower Pro plan than the headline table suggests.
··········
GOOGLE AI PLUS OR GOOGLE AI PRO: WHICH PLAN FITS WHICH USER.
Three facts from Google's tables decide the choice for most people: the need for Gemini 4 Argon or a context window above 128,000 tokens, storage needs above 400 GB, and the value of the US-only agent features. A user who needs none of the three gets most of the Gemini app, including Deep Research, video generation, Daily Brief and scheduled actions, for a quarter of the Pro price.
Pro recovers part of its price for households that would otherwise pay for more storage or for Home Premium separately, and it is the only one of the two that suits professional document work, coding agents or long research sessions. For more detail on the full Google ladder from the free tier to Ultra, see our guide to Gemini plans and prices. Readers weighing Pro against rival $20 plans can use our ChatGPT Plus vs Claude Pro vs Google AI Pro comparison, and those who want to know how Argon stacks up inside Google's own model line can read our Gemini 4 Carbon vs Gemini 4 Argon report.
........
User or workload | Recommended plan | Reason |
Everyday chat, writing help, summaries | Google AI Plus | Flash and Pro models, 2x usage, Deep Research included at $4.99 |
Family needing shared storage up to 400 GB | Google AI Plus | $0.83 per person for six people |
Family needing more than 400 GB | Google AI Pro | 5 TB at $0.40 per 100 GB |
Long contracts, reports, research papers | Google AI Pro | 1M-token context against 128K |
Coding in Antigravity or AI Studio | Google AI Pro | Expanded limits, Argon, $10 Cloud credits, 200 Colab units |
Agent tasks and Chrome auto browse (US) | Google AI Pro | Features are Pro and Ultra only |
Occasional AI video and image creation | Google AI Plus | 200 Flow credits and Omni Flash access |
Regular Flow video production | Google AI Pro | 1,000 Flow credits and purchasable AI credits |
Gemini Notebook with large source sets | Google AI Pro | 300 sources per notebook and 500 notebooks |
Existing Home Premium or YouTube Premium Lite payers | Google AI Pro | Bundles offset part of the $15 gap |
........
Google AI Plus is the right subscription for a user whose Gemini work fits inside 128,000 tokens and Flash-class models, and it costs $180 a year less on monthly billing. Google AI Pro is the right subscription as soon as Gemini 4 Argon, the 1 million token window, 5 TB of storage or the US agent features are part of the job, and annual billing at $199.99 makes it the cheaper way to hold it for twelve months.
