Gemini still has a real free consumer tier in 2026. Google currently lists Flash-Lite, Flash, and Pro as available without a Google AI subscription, but free access runs under the standard compute allowance and a 32K context window.
The practical limitation is dynamic compute rather than a permanent unlimited message count. Complex prompts, long chats, Pro usage, Deep Research and media features can consume the allowance faster or become capacity-limited.
