GPT-5.4 is no longer the current ChatGPT generation, but the base GPT-5.4 API model is still available. Its Codex availability also changed on August 31, 2026 for users signing in with ChatGPT.
That makes GPT-5.4 a transitional model with different answers depending on whether the user means standard ChatGPT, Codex, or the OpenAI API.
